Mark your calendars! Here are the Westside events to not miss this fall

Luckily, palm trees don’t lose their leaves, and Los Angeles doesn’t lose its summer weather with the start of fall. Nonetheless, the close of the season means that tons of Westsiders are going to be out of luck as their favorite summer activities change with the season. Here are five favorite community events to keep Westside calendars full during the transition into sweater weather.

COAST Open Street Festival:

On October 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. get out and explore sustainability and local art, as two miles of Santa Monica city streets are closed to cars and traffic. Bike, skate, stroll or roll down Ocean Avenue and Main Street as you listen to music from local bands and DJs. There will also be art installations and engaging activities, making this event perfect for all ages.

Twilight on the Pier:

Santa Monica’s favorite summer concert series has changed timeslots. With free live concerts every Wednesday until October 3, and a finale on October 7 with the close of the COAST Open Streets Festival, Santa Monica celebrates music with its iconic Twilight on the Pier concert series. With three stages, art installations and all the typical pier treats, this free event is open to the public and attracts visitors from all across LA. Although this series is coming to an end, there’s still time to catch the last few shows and enjoy some music over the ocean.

Artists & Fleas Venice

For all things Venice, the Artists & Fleas Market is the event for vintage finds, crafts and tasty treats. Located at the Westminster Avenue Elementary School on Abbott Kinney Boulevard, the Artists & Fleas market runs every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Artists & Fleas Market company, which is based in New York City and LA, sources local vendors to sell at these bicoastal events, while ensuring that the treasures and crafts match the company’s quality standards. Be sure to check out their newest location on Abbott Kinney Boulevard.

Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch

On Saturday, October 20, enjoy music by the California Feetwarmers and balloons from Buster Balloon at Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch in Culver City. With a petting zoo, straw maze, pumpkin decorating, bounce house, face painting, a tipi village and, of course, a pumpkin patch, there’s plenty of fun for the whole family. Entertainment options happen every Saturday and Sunday, and the pumpkin patch is open October 5–30. Family-friendly costumes are encouraged, so don’t wait to participate!

Front Porch Cinema

From October 18–21, head down to the Santa Monica Pier for the Front Porch Cinema series, featuring outdoor movie showings. Enjoy classics like “Grease” and “Clueless” and then get into the Halloween spirit with the “The Addams Family” and “Coco.” There are snacks available for purchase, and lawn chairs are available for rent.
